Spedra® Launch in Singapore in Singapore: 2020 September 19th, Singapore. Spedra® (avanafil) a long-awaited medication used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) was launched to much fanfare in Singapore, by its distributor Menarini® via a Live Webinar to physicians, entitled: “Switching ON Erectile Dysfunction Treatment in Singapore”. Orchestrating it was the right honourable Dr Colin Teo, Chairperson of the Society for Men’s Health, Singapore.
Spedra® enters the market as a 2nd generation PDE5 inhibitor, as it joins an already well established, and saturated market of other incumbent PDE5 inhibitors in Singapore with the likes of Viagra®, Cialis®, and Levitra®. Its claim to fame is the quick onset of action of about 15 minutes with none to minimal side effects, and adequate duration of action averaging 6 hours or more. Occasional side effects include headache, flushing, and nasal congestion. Like other PDE5 inhibitors, its use is contraindicated when the patient is consuming nitrates for heart ailments. In such cases, co-consumption may cause a precipitous drop in blood pressure.
